Two rising star groups from Japan make their Jazzschool debuts in this benefit for the victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake.
A recent soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, blues/rock guitarist Shingo Hirano has received international acclaim. He performs with his quintet featuring former Bay Area resident Scott Latham on drums. Scott has been working professionally in the Tokyo scene for nearly 30 years and has worked with many Japanese artists and visiting foreign artists, including Ron Carter, Terumasa Hino, T-Square, Wallace Roney, Dave Matthews, Jack McDuff and Chaka Kahn. The evening begins with an opening set from Free Fall, a jazz/fusion guitar trio from Tokyo. |
