Formerly The Don Piestrup Big Band, the Studio Six Band has been performing in the Bay Area since the 1960s. Many of Piestrup’s compositions were recorded by the Buddy Rich Band in the 1960’s and 70’s. The Studio 6 Band performs music from the Don Piestrup library as well as many other well known jazz composers, including Bill Holman and Thad Jones. Made up of professional musicians and jazz educators from all over the Bay Area., this is a modern big band with a rich legacy and a terrific sense of swing. |
