More Information Grupo Falso Baiano is the Bay Area's premiere Brazilian choro group. Choro, Brazil's first national music, is often compared to ragtime, Dixieland, and jazz for its melodic, playful sound, which demands both instrumental virtuosity and great depth of feeling. Falso Baiano's repertoire spans over 100 years, with jazz-influenced arrangements of both classic material (Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha) and works by modern masters Hermeto Pascoal and Hamilton de Holanda. Featuring Brian Moran, 7-string Guitar, Mandolin, Cavaquinho; Zack Pitt-Smith, reeds; Rebecca Kleinnman, flute; Carlos Oliveira, 7-string Guitar, Cavaquinho; and Ami Molinelli, percussion. |
